Warhawks Up Mark to 12-1

UW-Whitewater, ranked fifth in both national Division III polls, caused 34 UW-River Falls  turnovers and the Warhawks maintained a double digit lead the entire second half as UW-W defeated UW-RF 66-52 Saturday afternoon at Kachel Gym in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Despite shooting just 27% in the first half, UW-Whitewater went in to the locker room leading 30-17 with the aid of 9-9 shooting from the free throw line.

UW-W senior center Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) was the leading scorer in the game with 23 points, hitting 8-13 from the floor and 7-8 from the line.  Morton was the game's leading rebounder with nine, five of those offensive.  Point guard Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe) added 14 points for Whitewater.

Alise Holst scored 16 for the Falcons, and Tiffany Gregorich added 14. 

Almost half of UW-W's final margin came at the line, with Whitewater going 16-20 from the line and UW-RF 9-13.

UW-W, 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will travel to La Crosse to face the Eagles Wednesday, January 7.  The next home game for Whitewater will be Saturday, January 10 at 5:00 with UW-Eau Claire visiting the Williams Center.
